I bought my daughter a rival electric ice cream maker. I also have the same one. We were making ice cream and the gears totally stripped and pieces of plastic was in the ice cream. I've never had this problem before with electric ice cream makers. I thought it was kind of odd that both makers did the same thing. Is there a problem with this particular ice cream maker. It is short with a wooden bucket. It wasn t cheap.

The lid will not lock and stay on during churning

Here is a link to the manual if you need it; It sounds like somehow the little locking lugs on either the lid or the bit it locks to have broken off. if it is the lid, then you should be able to get a new one from cuisinart - check the manual for details, otherwise you probably have to either try and rebuild them by carving another piece of plastic the same and glueing it on. a new body piece may be available, check with cuisinart, but my guess is that you are stuck with tape - or my idea would be a large rubber/elastic band, so you can re-use it. Hope this helps :)

I have a Saniserv model# A4071E, (115v/60hz/1ph), that I haven't used in a long time. I recently turned it on and it ran fine for a couple minutes, but then i smelled a light odor of something heating up, possible plastic or rubber, then i head a muffled pop sound and a very small puff of dark smoke for the front bottom of machine came out and the machine shut down. It also tripped my breaker, which is 20 amps. I unplugged it and came out the next day to look inside. I took off both side panels and didn't see anything that looked burned. So, I started it up again and it seemed to be operating ok for a minute, but then it shut down again and tripped my breaker again. Any ideas on what it could be, or how I can trouble shoot the machine to locate the problem, which i'm assuming is an electrical one a d not mechanical, since all the internal parts seemed to be moving smoothly.

HelloThe muffled pop sound may have been a capacitor there is a capacitor on the refridge compressor and possbly one one the motor that feeds your product. Here is a pic of one. is located on the side of the refridge compressor. If its bulging or cracked then its blown. Please disconnect power before looking at this. Also a capacitor can store high voltage even when unplugged, you can get shocked from these.Another thing to look at would be any contactors.Check if there burnt or pitted in anyway.
