Guide :Ice Cream Makers : ICE-30BC 2 Quart Ice Cream Maker

Does not work

This is a new icecream maker and we have tried two recipes and they both came out soupy. The bowl was frozen overnight on the lowest setting in the freezer and I used cream and whole milk. It doesn't seem like the machine spins the bowl very fast and I am not sure what the arm is doing except scraping the sides of the bowl. So frustrated, help Heather

Here is the link to the manual if you need it; http://www.cuisinart.com/share/man/423_man.pdf It sounds to me like everything should work, but you put something in the ingredients which affected the result - salty or hard or softened water might be a problem - also insufficient rinsing of any detergent you might have used. try different ingredients. Also get a thermometer and check the temperature of your freezer - the problem may be that the freezer is only hitting a couple of degrees below zero celcius. about -8c or more should be enough for your ice cream maker, more is better for your frozen food check your freezer manual for details - please post again if you need this. Hope this helps :)

I have the krups quart ice cream maker. The first time I made the custard ice cream recipe it came out great. After that I can't get the consistency right. It works it at least 40 min to an hour and the ice cream becomes hard as a rock in the freezer. Does not scoop out velvety like first time.

I need a new lid for my Richmond Cedar Work Manufacturing, Sterling Freezer 5 Quart ice cream maker. I understand that Rival bought them out and the motorised 8550-X unit looks like it might have the same lid. The lid turns the cannister and the paddle stays stationary. Do you know where I can purchase a new lid for this ice cream maker? Thanks - Stevo

Yes, the Rival 8550 and RCW 5-qt lids are the same. They're sometimes available here: http://stores.ebay.com/Lauras-Last-Ditch/_i.html?_nkw=rival+ice+cream&submit=Search&_sid=93311479
